When we have our lives governed by “Yes, but,”
우리가 우리의 삶을 “가능합니다, 그러나”에 따라 살면,
by our proud capacity to control or our fearful need to control,
통제하는 우리의 오만한 능력이나 통제하기를 원하는 두려움에 사로잡힌 필요에 따라 살면
we resist God’s power for newness.
우리는 새로움을 위한 하나님의 능력에 저항하는 것이다.
We deny God’s freedom to give gifts.
우리는 선물을 주시는 하나님의 자유를 부인하는 것이다.
We end the song, we stop the lyric,
우리는 노래하기를 그치고, 우리는 시를 멈추는 것이다.
we deny the truth of memory, and we only hold on grimly.
우리는 기억의 진실을 부인하고, 우리는 단지 완고하게 고집하는 것이다.
Holding on grimly is an act of atheism,
완고하게 고집하는 것은 하나님의 존재를 부정하는 행위이다,
governed by “Yes, but,”
“가능합니다, 그러나”에 지배되어
believing there is no more than what we can explain,
우리가 설명할 수 있는 것 이상의 것은 없다고 믿으면서
no more than what we can control, manage, and predict.

Those of us who gather around these texts and these powerful memories keep alive in our lives the terrible, unsettling transition between “Yes, but” and “Can you imagine?”
